GURDJIEFF
"The
Search for Conscious Harmony"
Study
course
2007-2008
A
program to study and practice the Sacred Dances and the Work of Gurdjieff.
The Movements:
Traditionally, the study and the practice of sacred
dances, movements and rituals have been an essential part of the teaching
of certain esoteric schools in the East. Used and preserved today without
losing their deep meaning, religious and scientific in their real sense,
the Movements make available for the participant unique opportunities
for the inner work of transformation, the balance of body-mind-emotion
and the development of subtle perceptions.
G. I. Gurdjieff (1866-1949), "teacher of dance", introduced
to his students a large body of these movements and dances. Many are
from the regions of Central Asia, North Africa and Tibet; many are of
his own creation.
Program:
-
Gurdjieff Movements and Sacred Dances: introduction and
practice of dances coming from the Sufi, Tibetan Buddhist, Esoteric
Christian and Pythagorean traditions.
-
Subjects of self study and self observation: aspects of
the psychological part of the Gurdjieff system. Towards a new feeling
of "I".
-
Inner exercises: for the development of attention, finer
perceptions and states of consciousness appropriate to the work of
self-observation and the movements.
-
Meditative therapies, meditation: techniques coming from
different traditions. To dissolve blocks and to allow the natural
flow of energy in the body, favouring the inner silence, alive, natural
and without effort.
-
Zikr: ceremonies from the Sufi tradition.
-
Exercises to open the body, dance and creativity: opening
ourselves to the articulation of body in sensation.
-
Sharing circles: to clarify and to deepen our experiences.
To look at them in a larger context: the growth of the individual.
-The Dances and Movements
are taught in silence-
Purpose:
To study and practice intensively and in depth movements
and sacred dances along with subjects of self-study and inner practices.
Towards the formation of a group of dancers of sacred
dances, not located in the space except when we meet, for the study
and the exploration of the work of transformation that this process
makes possible, with monthly meetings and personal inner work to develop
and to explore.
What we expect?
In order to obtain the maximum benefit of this program,
the attendance to all the meetings is suggested, as well as to bring
