The
concept of force is an essential idea in this work. We must have force
for the purpose of awakening. The Work says that we lose force in many
specific ways, that we can save force working on them (exercise of non-identification)
and that we create force by the act of self-remembering.
The
Work says that we begin to awake only after struggling against identification
and mechanicalness imposed by life, which makes us remain asleep. Very
early in life diverse acts mean we lose force, so that it is lost it
in a mechanical way. It would be interesting to isolate us from certain
influences of life and to explore the power of them. It is very difficult
to see how we lose our force. We must see ourselves in the light of
new knowledge with the purpose of understanding what is continuously
happening. In the Work we begin to be aware of the necessity to face
a huge amount of habits that are not us. It is necessary to value and
to understand that this effort has a very concrete aim.
Self-observation
is a helpful technique to break the mechanicalness, but it is by non-identification
that we prevent the loss of force. If we identify with everything that
we experience, we will not have enough force left to do or to understand
the Work that we are trying to carry out. The Work will remain in the
distance like a cloud. Sincerity in the work is also of extreme importance
because, although the causes of the loss of force are generalized enough
in all of us, in each person it produces a specific effect that must
be observed in detail individually and this demands a constant and conscious
effort. If we lack sincerity regarding the Work, there can be no inner
perception either.
It
is very interesting to observe the origin of the loss of force and the
conditions that are related to its loss, but sometimes a lot of time
is needed until we realize the cause. Often it happens that certain
things that we consider inoffensive or admirable cause this loss.
We
must remember the other angle, that which creates force. It is the act
of self-remembering that creates force. Thus we save force by each act
of non-identification and force is created by self-remembering. In order
for this work to take place we must start off from the feeling that
another thing is possible, that we are extremely small in this Universe
and that a possibility exists. We must try to remember ourselves every
day because we are trying to awaken to another level of being. But to
awaken we need to have force and not waste or misuse it at any time.
Each person will have to explore through self-observation, which we
will shed light on the causes of this loss. We must live life, not be
devoured by it.
